Anita Włodarczyk achieved her best result in her third attempt. In the first, she threw two centimeters less, and in the second she had 70.41. Considering the results of both groups, this gave the world record holder (82.98) 12th place – the last one to be awarded with advancement.

Five competitors who achieved the minimum qualification distance of 73.00 m qualified for the final, as well as the seven best of the remaining competitors.

Malwina Kopron, who started in group A, was classified in 23rd place with a best throw of 67.68.

I wasn’t stressed. It just wasn’t my day, so I did my thing. Now the results from the eliminations don’t matter any more – said Włodarczyk.

She admitted that there are large reserves that she intends to use in the final. She argued that during training, the hammer flies 73-74 meters, and she is not a training athlete.

I’m waiting calmly for the final. The atmosphere at Stade France is great. It reminded me of the London Olympics – she added.

According to Włodarczyk, the favorite will be the Canadian Camryn Rogers. I’ve seen how she trains. She beats all my records in the gym, I wouldn’t stand a chance against her. She’s very strong. I’m not interested in why there’s such progress in the hammer throw in Canada, I haven’t thought about it – said the Pole.

Rogers had the second best result in the qualifying round, with a score of 74.69. Finland’s Krista Tervo was the best, with a score of 74.79, a national record.

I expected better results in the qualifying rounds than my rivals – summed up Włodarczyk.

The fight for medals in this competition is scheduled for Tuesday.
