In Colo Colo They were not satisfied. Not only because of the draw against River Plate, but also because of the performance of Brazilian referee Raphael Claus.
The captain of the Albos, Esteban Pavez, had already expressed it once the 1-1 against the trans-Andeans had concluded: “I don’t like to talk about the referees, but here many small plays were called for them, none for us.”
However, the president of the Pedreros club, Aníbal Mosa, went much further in his criticism. He even described the actions of the São Paulo referee as “shameful.”
“This was a disgrace in every sense of the word. Miguel Borja’s stamp on Emiliano (Amor) is disgusting. That would be a red card anywhere. Then, Falcón’s expulsion was unfair… You don’t see that anywhere. Despite having this referee against us, we played a very good game,” the boss summed up.
The top leader added that “we believe that referees should not be the protagonists, but this man played against Colo Colo. We don’t know what his intentions are, but the 42 thousand people witnessed the guy attacking us.”
Along the same lines, the Macul club’s manager said that he expects a sanction from the South American Football Confederation against Claus, who, according to his words, only dedicated himself to “spoiling the show.”

“I hope that Conmebol takes note of this situation. This type of referee cannot officiate for a long time. All he does is spoil the show. We had a wonderful crowd that behaved in the best way, all of this was jeopardized by a referee who left a lot to be desired,” warned Mosa.
One of the situations that most bothered the head of Blanco y Negro was the expulsion of Maximiliano Falcón, one of the key players in coach Jorge Almirón’s scheme.
On that same point, the businessman said that they will use all legal resources available to allow the Uruguayan defender to play the return leg in Buenos Aires.
“We will speak to our lawyers, we will talk to them, they are studying the images. We hope to be able to appeal; as you will have seen, that is not an expulsion. Falcón told me that Paulo Díaz said all kinds of things to him, we don’t know why the referee reacted that way,” Mosa explained.
Along the same lines, he insisted that “we will do what we have to do. This is unfair, we believe that in this type of important event, such as the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores, there must be more serious referees.”
