“Angola is in a difficult group in the African futsal tournament” – Jornal OPaís

The coach of the National Futsal Team, Marcos Antunes, told the newspaper O PAÍS, that Angola is in a difficult group, as it will face Morocco, the organizing country of the African Cup, which will be played from the 8th to the 17th of April next.

Marcos Antunes explained that the Moroccan team, holder of the title, is traditionally very strong, because it is always at the top of the best teams in the world.

“There are players competing in the best leagues. Therefore, Morocco has a different reality of what futsal is compared to the other two opponents in group A, Ghana and Zambia”, he acknowledged.

By recognizing the technical and tactical power of the Moroccans, Marcos Antunes guaranteed that the Angolan team will fight for a place in the other phase of the competition once morest the Ghanaians and the Zambians. “The two teams I just mentioned are at the same level as the National Team.

Now we will work to do well in the competition organized by the African Football Confederation (CAF)”, he explained.

The top two in each group will advance to the semi-finals of the competition, which qualifies the top three for the World Championship, to be held in Uzbekistan between September 14th and October 6th this year.

In 2020, Angola finished third in the sixth edition of the African Nations Championship (CAN) in futsal. Egypt, three-time champion, Libya, Namibia and Mauritania are the teams in group B.
