An uproar sparked by a shocking video on social media in Egypt showing a beating and dragging attack on a security officer tasked with guarding a residential community in the Maadi area, south of Cairo.

The video, which the security services are examining and documented by the surveillance cameras of one of the residents, revealed that one of the residents of the assembly had assaulted a private security agent tasked with guarding the gate with severe beatings and dragging, due to a dispute over the entry of maintenance workers.

While it turned out that the incident happened Thursday when a car loaded with workers was coming to the apartment of a resident. When they passed the assembly gate, the security officer stopped them, asked them to show their ID, and to call the resident to find out the building number and the apartment number they were heading to.

However, the resident of the assembly arrived at the scene of the incident within minutes and attacked the security force by beating, dragging and insulting.

The video angered many residents, who expressed their dissatisfaction, demanding justice for the security component, and bringing the resident to criminal trial.

For his part, the assaulted security officer, Muhammad Mustafa Nawar, told Al Arabiya.net the details of the incident.

He said that he works in a private security company, and on Thursday evening 4 maintenance workers arrived at the residential compound that he is guarding and demanded that he bring them into the apartment of one of the residents.

He added that they refused to inform him of the resident’s name, so he refused to let them in and demanded that they stop the car away from the assembly gate until the matter is clarified.

However, he was surprised by the driver attacking him and getting into an argument with him. Within a minute, the resident called him and threatened him and demanded that the workers enter without knowing their personal identities, according to Nawar, who indicated that he informed the Security Department of what was happening and insisted on obtaining the driver’s license.

This angered the driver, who called the resident, who immediately arrived at the gate and assaulted Nawar with beatings and dragging, causing bruises, scrapes and bloody pools.

He also confirmed that he hastened to write a report at the police station, stressing that he will not give up his right and will not accept any reconciliation, especially that the video revealed what he was exposed to and angered his family and relatives.
