Angelina Jolie calls for equality for all refugees in the world

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie called for equal treatment of all refugees and displaced persons in the world.

“A million refugees have now fled Ukraine,” Jolie said in a post on her account on Instagram.

“Before the first Ukrainian refugees crossed the border, there were more than 82 million people forced to leave their homes globally, the highest number on record,” she added.

And she added that among them, “more than 6 million Syrians, the largest number of refugees in the world, who have been displaced for more than a decade, and more than a million Rohingyas from Myanmar who have been forcibly displaced.”

And she added: “About 48 million people have been forced to leave their homes due to conflict and violence, such as those who live as internally displaced persons in their countries in Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and many other places.”

She concluded: “All refugees and displaced persons deserve equal treatment and rights.”
