Angel Salazar, Cuban actor known for his role in Scarface, has died at the age of 68

Cuban-American actor Angel Salazar, known for his iconic role as Chi Chi in the film Scarface (1983), has died at the age of 68. The sad news was confirmed by his representatives last Monday.

Salazar died on Sunday, August 11, at a friend’s apartment in New York. Although the exact cause of his death is still unknown, his representative, Roger Paul, revealed to The New York Times that the actor suffered from heart problems.

Born in Cuba in 1951, Salazar immigrated to the United States in the 1970s. Despite initial difficulties in finding acting work, he found his way into a comedy club in New York, launching a successful career as a stand-up comedian. In addition to his famous role in Scarface, Salazar had prominent roles in films such as Punchline (1988) and Carlito’s Way (1993).
