Ángel García Arrested for Drug-Related Homicide: Shocking Incident at JFK Airport

Ángel García was arrested when he was going to take a flight to Florida at JFK airport in New York, following being identified as a suspect in a drug-related homicide in Upper Manhattan.

Garcia, a 43-year-old ex-convict, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and weapons possession for shoot 30-year-old Angel Cruzeta in the face at 1:45 a.m. on July 5 in front of his building on Vermilyea Ave. near W. 204th St, inwood neighborhood, according to the NYPD.

That shooting took place during a 9 1/2-hour streak of violence beginning at 11 pm on July 4, in which 14 people were shot, two fatally, at the close of the Independence Day holiday. Ironically, they happened following Mayor Eric Adams proclaimed on Twitter that New York had had “one of the safest weekends in 19 years.”

They rushed at him and shot him in the head. told the Daily News at that time a witness to the death of Cruzeta, who did not want to give his name. Paramedics took him to Harlem Hospital, but were unable to save him.

The gunman fled on a scooter and was later identified. Police said a drug dispute led to the shooting. No further details were immediately available, although the street where the murder occurred is a notorious narcotics market, according to the NYPD.

Cruzeta had sealed arrests and Garcia 19 previous arrests, for drugs and robbery. He was paroled in March following serving nearly five years for assault and conspiracy. He had previously been paroled in November 2005 following serving three years for attempted carjacking.

All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
