The Argentine striker Ángel Di María arrived this morning in the city of Lisbon and in the followingnoon he will be presented as the new footballer of Benfica of Portugal at the Estadio da Luz, next to the statue of Eusebio, a legend of the club and of world football.

The presentation act was specially designed by the president Rui Costa, who wants something “outstanding, that will serve as a lever for the start of the new season”, explains the sports media A’Bola.

“Benfica does not want it to be an event like so many others, with the player photographed together with the president signing the contract, wearing the club’s shirt and having a few words with the accredited media,” the information argues.

The ceremony will begin today at 7:04 p.m. in Lisbon (15:04 in Argentina) as it is the year the Lisbon entity was founded.

The video announcing the event, which Benfica posted on its social networks on Wednesday, “begins with a huge pole with an Argentine flag on top, waving, and continues with images of the Estádio da Luz, euphoric people kissing the symbol and vibrating in the stands with the successes of the club, and ends with one or another allusion to the Argentine symbols”.

Di María, 35, arrived this Thursday morning at the Tires aerodrome in Cascais and went directly to the Hospital Da Luz to undergo medical studies prior to signing his contract.

The Argentine world champion in Qatar 2022 will have a second stage in Benfica, his first club in the European market between 2007-2010. In that period, he played 121 games, scored 15 points, distributed 28 assists and won three local titles.

Subsequently, his career continued at Real Madrid (2010-2014), Manchester United (2014-2015), Paris Saint-Germain (2015-2022) and Juventus (2022-203).
