The anesthesiologists from different clinics in the City will begin today a protest for an indefinite time that generates the suspension of scheduled operations for an indefinite time for members of the Instituto Obra Médico Asistencial (IOMA).

Last Friday, notes signed by anesthesiologists who work in agreement with IOMA arrived to directors of different clinics in the City and to the Anesthesiology Society of Plata. In them they mention the measure of force that they will apply from today and in several cases for an indefinite period of time.

The professionals point out that there is a serious delay in the values paid by the Buenos Aires social work for fees for operations and practices in which anesthesiologists intervene in cases in which there is an affiliate of the Institute.

They assure in the Platense Society of Anesthesiology that with IOMA it is the only front of conflict that the professionals of the sector have for the collection of fees. They assured that they are 100 percent below what other financiers (social and prepaid works) pay.

They also mentioned that “it is difficult to resume the dialogue with IOMA due to the promises and announcements that were not fulfilled. In addition, there is an excessive regulation of the fees and work is done under legal threats, since many times conditions were imposed by resorting to the Justice to not renew the fees.

“In times when inflation has no control, it is difficult to work for fees that are not up to date,” said a professional anesthesiologist. This issue is of increasing concern among the directors of the Plata Society of Anesthesiology. “There is no longer any room to convince professionals to continue working for IOMA, because of what the Institute pays and the conditions in which the relationship between the parties develops,” they indicated.
