Rookie of the year, All-Star and NBA champion, at only 28 years old, Andrew Wiggins already has a great career in the American League. But the Canadian player has also a scoring record at the scale of his country.
Golden State’s starting winger since 2020, Andrew Wiggins plays alongside several big names in the Big League. Stephen Curry and his 3390 career 3-point shots, Klay Thompson and his 37 units in a quarter…. The exploits are not lacking in the Warriors. If its statistical production is incomparable to that of the Splash Brothers, Andrew Wiggins also holds a record : he is the only player born in Canada to have exceeded the bar of 10,000 points in the NBA.
This record is not new, since it was during the 2020-21 season, during which he scored 1,320 points, that Wiggins crossed the 10,000 units mark. But it’s not just in scoring that the winger shines, sincehe also ranks in the top 5 in four other statistical categories: rebounding, assisting, stealing and blocking (always among players born in Canada).
Remarkable statistics which testify to the versatility and regularity of Wiggins at the highest level since his draft in 2014. With his 12,152 career points, he is currently the highest scorer of his vintage which however includes some big names like Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Zach LaVine and Julius Randle. He is also the player who has played the most games with 635 games, including 635 as a starter.
In short, Andrew Wiggins is a monster of reliability, consistency and productivity in all areas, and it shows in the numbers. The Warriors winger already has a record among Canadian-born players…waiting for him to break new ones?
