Andrés Chaparro had an unbeatable debut in Major League Baseball with the Washington Nationals and became the 484th Venezuelan to see action in the Majors.

The native of Mérida state started at first base and was sixth in the batting order. He hit three doubles in four at-bats, scored two runs and drove in one, in what was the capital team’s 9-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Chaparro hit the first two-base hit in the fourth inning and later scored. In the sixth inning he repeated the dose and stepped on the plate after a single by the also Venezuelan Ildemaro Vargas.

An eaglet

The native El Vigía, who in Venezuela belongs to Águilas del Zulia, closed his magical night with another double to left field with which he added his first run.

Chaparro finished 3-for-4, Vargas 1-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored, while Keibert Ruiz finished 1-for-5 with an RBI for a Washington victory with a Venezuelan flavor.

For the Orioles, outfielder Anthony Santander also stood out. The native of Margarita hit a home run in the third inning to reach 36 this season and surpass his personal record of 35 homers in a single season.
