Here we are. After 19 years in the NBA, Andre Iguodala will retire at the end of the 2022-2023 season. To do things right, the four-time NBA champion intends to bow out in the Warriors jersey. In his podcast, “Point Forward”, he announces his re-signing with Golden State for one last dance.

Since the start of the summer, the defending champions have insisted on the winger remaining in their squad. Stephen Curry et Draymond Green would have themselves intervened to try to convince him. It seems that these efforts have paid off, much to the delight of the front office.
“I really think he’s important for our season. There’s no one else in the team who can do what he does for us. And we think he can still play and help us.”said Bob Myers, the GM of Golden State, in an interview for The Athletic A week ago.
Injured during the majority of the playoffs, Iguodala might not bring much to the Warriors on the floors. His average of 1.6 points in seven games is rather anecdotal. The 38-year-old, however, contributes in the dressing room with his considerable experience and acts as a mentor for the younger players. This season, we have seen him many times sharing his knowledge of the game on the edge of the field.
Golden State, which is aiming for the double and trying to restore its dynasty, needs its leadership more than ever. The MVP of the 2015 Finals can thus hope to retire with one last title, his fifth in the bay, to end things in style.
Beyond San Francisco, the end of Andre Iguodala’s career is a real event for the NBA. All-Star with the Sixers in 2012, he comes to the end of twenty years of success, crowned with his four rings with the Warriors. Iggy also won two gold medals with Team USA, at the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 Olympics.
