HC Ambri-Piotta striker André Heim (25) will not skate in the National League championship in 2023-2024. Credited with 31 points (including 12 goals) in the 42 regular season matches delivered with the Leventine team in 2022-2023, the Bernese seduced the organization of the St. Louis Blues, in NHL.

The Missouri franchise, which missed out on qualifying for the playoffs, has awarded a one-year, two-way entry-level contract to the former HC Unterseen-Interlaken junior, who also donned Bern jerseys (National League) and Visp (Swiss League) in the professional ranks.

A pact which, according to our sources, was negotiated by the former Swiss international defender Gaëtan Voisard, CEO of the firm The6ix, which represents with Allain Roy, of RSG Hockey, the interests of several other Swiss skaters in the NHL: Nico Hischier, Jonas Siegenthaler, Akira Schmid, Tim Berni and Ludovic Waeber.

No Swiss have played with the Blues

Never drafted by an organization of the North American professional league during his years of eligibility, André Heim will therefore take part in the training camp of the team coached by Craig Berube in September. His performances and the evaluations of the coaches as well as general manager Doug Armstrong will decide his fate.

Either he will start the season with St. Louis in the best league in the world. Either he will join Springfield, the school club of the Blues, which skates in the American Hockey League.

So far no Swiss have played an official match with St. Louis, a team that drafted Graubünden striker Jacques Soguel in 1976 and Zurich goalkeeper Reto Berra in 2006.
