ANDE Seeks Bidders for Enhancing Power Capacity in Chaco Region

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The National Electricity Administration (ANDE) has opened bids for the 14 participating firms and consortia in the construction of the future 220/23 kV transmission line and substation that will double power in Chaco.

This is the international public tender ANDE – KFWFonplata N⁰ 1753-23 ID 450918 “Construction Project of the 220 KV Transmission Line Villa Hayes – Villa Real – Pozo Colorado – Loma Plata and the Pozo Colorado Substation in 220 KV, in the Western Region” with an expected investment of USD 126,000,000.

To this end, the technical offers (Envelope No. 1) of the 14 participating firms and consortia were opened this Friday, proceeding to carry out a preliminary and quantitative verification, which was subsequently analyzed by the Evaluation Committee.

The mega project is part of ANDE’s 2021-2030 Master Plan and will be essential to boost the socioeconomic development of Chaco, benefiting more than 350,000 inhabitants in the area.

It is worth mentioning that, through Law No. 7153 approved on September 15, 2023, loan contracts No. 31003 signed between ANDE and the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KFW of Germany) for an amount of up to US$ 75,000,000 were approved.

As well as the PAR-29/2022 loan agreement signed between the state-owned company and the Financial Fund for the Development of the Cuenca del Plata (Fonplata) for an amount of up to US$ 45,000,000.

The Future of Transmission Lines: Shaping a Sustainable ⁤Tomorrow

As ⁣the world ‌moves towards a more sustainable future, the field of transmission line engineering is undergoing a significant transformation. Transmission lines play a crucial role ‍in the distribution of power, and with the increasing demand⁤ for electricity, it is essential to innovate ⁤and improve ⁣the way transmission lines are designed, constructed, and maintained.

The Importance of Transmission ‌Lines

Transmission lines are the backbone of the electrical grid, transmitting power over long distances from power ⁣plants to consumers. They are a critical component of the energy infrastructure, and their reliability and efficiency are vital to ensuring a stable power supply.‌ According to JE Schutt-Aine, ‍transmission line behavior is prevalent when the structural dimensions of the line are comparable to the ‍wavelength of the signal [[2]]. This makes transmission lines an essential area of study in electrical engineering.

Challenges Facing Transmission Lines

The construction of transmission lines poses several challenges, including environmental ⁤concerns, land acquisition issues, and the need‌ for⁣ significant investment. ‌However, with ⁤the increasing demand for electricity, it is essential to⁣ overcome these challenges and develop innovative solutions to ensure a reliable and efficient power supply.

The Future of Transmission Lines

The future of transmission‌ lines lies in⁤ adopting sustainable and innovative solutions that address the challenges facing the industry. This includes the use of⁢ advanced⁢ materials, such as high-temperature conductors,‍ and the implementation of smart grid technologies to improve the efficiency and reliability of transmission lines. According to ‍a report by KPGreen Engineering,‌ the future of transmission line engineering will be shaped by innovation and sustainability, driving‍ the ‍field forward [[1]].

ANDE: The Backbone of Paraguay’s Electricity Grid

The Administración Nacional de Electricidad (ANDE) is the operator of Paraguay’s national electricity grid, responsible for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity across the country [1]). As an autarchic, decentralized institution of the Public Administration, ANDE has unlimited duration, with legal status and its own assets [3].

Recently, ANDE has been making strides in the development of the country’s electricity infrastructure, with a focus on boosting socioeconomic development in the Chaco region. The organization has opened bids for the construction of a 220/23 kV transmission line and substation, which will double power in the region, benefiting over 350,000 inhabitants [post-516775].

The mega project, part of ANDE’s 2021-2030 Master Plan, has an expected investment of USD 126,000,000 and will be financed through loan contracts with the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KFW of Germany) and the Financial Fund for the Development of the Cuenca del Plata (Fonplata) [post-516775].

The Andes: The Longest Mountain Range in the World

However, ANDE is not the only entity with this name. The Andes are also the longest mountain range in the world, stretching over 7,200 km from the Isthmus of Panama to Cape Horn in South America [2]. The Andes are a vital component of the South American landscape, supporting a diverse range of ecosystems and cultures.

ANDE, the National Electricity Administration of Paraguay, plays a critical role in the development of the country’s electricity infrastructure, while the Andes, the majestic mountain range, is a natural wonder that spans across South America.
