ANDE recovers more than USD 40 million and extends for one month the promotion to split debts for users in arrears

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The president of the National Electricity Administration, Félix Sosa, reported that the promotion “Split your debt, without late fees, in up to 60 interest-free installments”, will extend throughout the month of August, whether it be done in person or through the website.

He stressed that during the month that this promotion was in effect, which ended today, Wednesday, more than 45,000 clients regularized their situation, allowing ANDE to recover more than 40 million dollars approximately in collected or split debt. For this reason, it was decided to extend the promotion until the end of August.

The head of ANDE reported that the decision was made on Wednesday during the evaluation meeting he held with regional and commercial area chiefs.

Sosa said that they saw the need to make this extension, since some sectors, mainly in the interior of the country, had difficulties in carrying out procedures through digital means, which were the only ones authorized. Now, the procedures can be carried out both online and in person, he added.

The president of ANDE stressed that the possibility of dividing the payment of debts into 60 installments, without interest or late fees, is unprecedented. “We consider it very positive and that many people have come forward to regularize their debts,” he said.

Bad debts increased after the pandemic

He also reported that during the pandemic they had registered a default rate of 14%, a period during which there were no cuts for non-payment for a period of 2 years. During that period, the default rate rose to 30%.

He stressed that last year they carried out many promotions and actions on the ground, but unfortunately very little of the accumulated debt could be recovered.

According to the president, the private sector’s debt with ANDE, that is, all private clients, reached 200 million dollars.
