ANDE received offers from 11 companies interested in marketing Paraguayan energy to the Brazilian free market

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The National Electricity Administration (ANDE) opened the envelopes of the 11 bidding companies on Friday, within the framework of the tender for the commercialization of 100 megawatts of energy from the Acaray hydroelectric plant to the Brazilian free market.

The reception and opening ceremony of envelope No. 1 took place at the headquarters of the National Electricity Administration.

A total of 11 companies submitted bids, seeking to achieve this unprecedented commercialization of electricity generated in Paraguay through the Brazilian free market.

Once all the envelopes had been opened, all the documents were quantitatively verified.

Subsequently, all participants were invited to make the relevant verifications and observations, leaving them in writing and attaching them to the Opening Minutes No. 31/2024.

Below are the companies that have submitted applications for the Competition:

6. RZK ENERGY MARKETING COMPANY LTDA.

7. AMBAR ELECTRICAL ENERGY MARKETER

8. ENGELHART CTP (BRASIL) S.A. – BTG PACTUAL COMMODITIES S.A.

9. KROMA ENERGY MARKETING COMPANY

10. BOLT ENERGY ENERGY MARKETING COMPANY LTDA.

11. VITOL POWER BRASIL LTDA.

The bids of these companies will be analysed and verified by the Price Competition Evaluation Committee.

The proposals in Envelope No. 2 will remain under strict protection until the authorization resolution is issued by the highest authority of the Institution, once the verifications of the proposals in Envelope No. 1 have been completed.

The tender launched by Paraguay at the end of May is based on the memorandum of understanding with the Brazilian government on directives related to the energy of Itaipu Binacional, signed in the city of Asunción on the 7th of that month.

This agreement established, among other measures, that Paraguay will have the possibility, immediately, to sell its energy to the Brazilian free market, in accordance with the regulations currently in force in Brazil.
