ANDE intervenes in a cryptocurrency farm with direct connection in Saltos del Guairá

Asunción, IP Agency.- The National Electricity Administration (ANDE) intervened a property where a crypto mining farm with direct connection operated, located in the city of Saltos del Guairá, department of Canindeyú.

In a joint operation between ANDE, the Public Ministry, the Investigation Department and with the support of the National Police, the intervention of a property registered in the name of Emerson Batista was achieved, through the direct connection to medium voltage of a transformer. of 2,500 kVA.

According to the state company’s report, this facility supplied electricity to 388 cryptoasset processors at the time of the operation.

These large-scale teams were inside an establishment located in the city of Saltos del Guairá, department of Canindeyú, specifically in the Colonia Villa Alta, on route PY07, 3 km before the Carolina crossing.

The institution filed a complaint with the Public Ministry for the crimes of theft of electrical energy (Article 173), disturbance of public services (Article 218) and sabotage (Article 274) of the Penal Code.

In this way, prosecutor Carlos Cabrera of Criminal Unit No. 1 of Saltos del Guairá, with a search warrant, ordered the transfer of 201 cryptoactive processing equipment along with the large transformer to the Regional Agency of Saltos del GuaRÁ, while that 187 processors were sealed and left inside the container and a fiscal depositary was appointed to the owner of the property.

According to the analysis carried out by the institution, the monthly property damage is estimated at approximately G.692,000,000, which in addition to the costs derived from the intervention and the application of the fine must be paid by those responsible.

This intervention is part of the frontal fight against irregular connections and improper use of electrical energy that the ANDE has been promoting, which in turn causes significant economic damage and affects the correct functioning of the electrical system and compliance with current regulations. .
