“ The nickname “Chicagre” – a contraction of Grenoble and Chicago – which the city has inherited in recent years is difficult to forget. writes Thomas Pueyo (Aujourd’hui en France 20/8/24) in a report on insecurity in Grenoble. For his part, the Public Prosecutor, Eric Vaillant, admits in the same newspaper “I haven’t seen that since I arrived in Grenoble” . However, before leaving, his predecessor, Jean-Yves Coquillat, had declared: “I have never seen a city so rotten and gangrenous.” In a few years, Eric Piolle will have established a delinquency which was marginal in the center and at all the nerve centers of the city, creating a new city, Chicago.

GRENOBLE MAKES HEADLINES FOR THE WRONG REASONS
Grenoble is once again in the headlines for the wrong reasons. The publicity given to the capital of the Alps erases all the promotional campaigns that the communities could undertake. They shoot, they threaten, they hit, they settle scores, no neighborhood is spared. The population that has to live with their backs to the walls, takes all possible precautions.
MOTHER AVOIDS TRAM STOP
A mother tells (Aujourd’hui en France 20/8/24) that with her little girl, she avoids a tram stop that she knows is close to a dangerous drug dealing point. In Mistral, elderly people explained to Alain Carignon that they ask their children to come and see them as little as possible.

In the same newspaper, Yves is revolted: “ What I found even more inflated was this poster for a play supported by the municipality called “Les copains d’en bas”. As if it should be normal, nice. No, it’s not. People are attacked in the stairwells where drugs are sold, they are afraid to go up to their homes.”
This campaign by the municipality to get the people of Grenoble to tolerate delinquency speaks volumes about its passive complicity with the gangrene that is invading everything.

THE MEDIA TAKES OVER GRENOBLE
France 2, the news channels, the daily press deal extensively with “Chicagre” despite the busy political news and the death of Alain Delon which occupies it. This is to say that this endemic insecurity is harming the city.
THE PROSECUTOR: NOTHING ON THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MUNICIPALITY
We understand the Prosecutor Eric Vaillant who details the means implemented to fight against trafficking, including through the Family Allowance Fund: the money earned illegally is reintroduced into the income allowing the suppression of the allowances. But, strangely, one major absentee is not called into question: the municipality. Which was also noted when the two protagonists were side by side in St Bruno. Nothing on the ultra-left center installed by the municipality on rue d’Alembert which causes so much damage in Grenoble with members who hide their identity. PIOLLE AND HIS AFFIDANTS TURN A EYES ON DEALERS AND MONEY

With Eric Piolle on his way out and now embroiled in affairs that will poison the end of his term, the opposition hopes that members of the municipal majority will measure the extent of the disaster, the risks incurred by the people of Grenoble and the irreparable damage suffered by Grenoble.
It is difficult to see how all elected officials could continue to turn a blind eye and repeat language that no longer has any connection with reality. How can we not believe in a surge on the part of elected officials freeing themselves from the grip of a system whose results they see as so worrying?
