The French film Anatomy of a Fall, Palme d’Or at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, continues its extraordinary journey with numerous nominations for the Césars, the French cinema awards, following having taken its ticket to the Oscars in Hollywood.
Its director, Justine Triet, and two female filmmakers are also selected for the “best director” category, a year following the controversy arising from the absence of female representation for this distinction at the César.
Anatomy of a Fall, however, is beaten by another film, The Animal Kingdom by Thomas Cailley, by a short head in the César nominations. This fantastic film which takes place in the near future, where humans have begun to mutate into animal creatures, garnered 12 nominations on Wednesday, notably for “best film”, “best actor” for Romain Duris and “best direction” .
