Anatoly Shuliev has been appointed chief director of the Vakhtangov Theatre. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Culture. Until November 2022, Yuri Butusov was the artistic director of the theater.

Anatoly Shuliev is a senior lecturer at the Department of Actor’s Skill at GITIS. As a director, he staged many performances, including at the Vakhtangov Theater: “Stefan Zweig. Novels”, “Fool”, “Amadeus”. Also, Mr. Shuliev is the author of a number of short films – “Wings”, “Behind a Closed Door”, “The Gift”.
The director of the theater, Kirill Krok, announced the departure of Yuri Butusov from the post of chief director. He assured that the theater did not terminate the contract with Mr. Butusov, and he himself asked for his dismissal, since he was in Paris and would not be able to return to Russia in the near future. He has been the chief director of the theater since 2018.
