**Title: Insights on Conducting Effective Interviews in Indonesia**
**Interviewer:** Welcome to our segment today. We’re diving into the nuances of conducting interviews in Indonesia, based on recent insights from a guide. Joining us is recruitment expert, Siti Rahmawati. Thank you for being here, Siti!
**Siti:** Thank you for having me!
**Interviewer:** Let’s start with the structure of the interview. Why is it important to divide an interview into three parts: introduction, core questions, and conclusion?
**Siti:** Splitting the interview into these sections helps create a natural flow. The introduction sets the tone and builds rapport with the candidate, making them feel more comfortable. The core questions delve into their skills and experiences, allowing for a deeper understanding. the conclusion enables you to clarify any points and leave the candidate with a positive impression.
**Interviewer:** That makes a lot of sense. What should interviewers focus on during the core questions?
**Siti:** During this phase, interviewers should ask open-ended questions that allow candidates to showcase their problem-solving skills and cultural fit within the organization. It’s also important to tailor questions related to the specific role and the nuances of working in Indonesia’s unique business environment.
**Interviewer:** How can interviewers ensure they’re assessing candidates fairly and effectively?
**Siti:** Consistency is key. Using a standardized set of questions helps in comparing candidates on the same scale. Additionally, being aware of cultural nuances is crucial. For instance, many Indonesian candidates may be more modest about their accomplishments; interviewers should encourage them to elaborate on their experiences.
**Interviewer:** Lastly, what’s a common mistake interviewers should avoid?
**Siti:** A major pitfall is leading the candidate with biased questions or making assumptions based on first impressions. It’s vital to stay objective and give each candidate the opportunity to express themselves fully.
**Interviewer:** Great advice, Siti! Thank you for sharing your insights on conducting effective interviews in Indonesia.
