Last Wednesday, the 1st, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) launched a new tool called “Qual Empresa Me Ligou” allowing the consumer to enter the number of the call to discover the company responsible for the contact. This novelty arrives as one more resource that can be used by Brazilians in the fight once morest abusive telemarketing.
According to the authority, information from the following telecommunications service providers is initially being made available: Algar, Claro, Oi, Sercomtel, Tim and Vivo, but over the coming months information from other providers operating nationwide will be added.
In addition to the new free tool, Anatel also published data from a balance sheet that reveals the companies that most abuse active telemarketing calls to offer products and services. Although there is still a high number of calls, the regulatory body points to a significant drop in the number of calls lasting less than 3 seconds.
According to the figures, initially the volume of short calls was 4 billion per week, however, following the implementation of a precautionary measure, this number dropped 40% reaching 2.47 billion per week — from November 2022 the average was at 2.37 billion, most of which were triggered by robocalls, with nearly 200 fewer calls per person.
Companies that care the most regarding customers:
Anatel’s list considers two criteria: those that had a proportion between the total short calls and the number of total calls of 85% or more; and those who exceeded the connection limits established in the injunction.
