Anarchy and cordless screwdrivers in the exhibition “Protest/Architecture” in the Vienna Mak – Kultur

Not all pyramids are built to last. For those in Vienna-Donaustadt, time was up following just a few months on February 1, 2022, when the excavator shovel drilled into the plywood and the city of Vienna had the “Lobau remains” protest camp cleared out, whose landmark was the small piece of self-built architecture . Almost exactly two years to the day following its destruction, the Lobau pyramid has been resurrected at a scale of 1:10 in the Mak exhibition rooms. It is part of the exhibition Protest/Architecture: Barricades, Camps, Superglue, which opens next Wednesday. The large-scale show is a collaboration with the German Architecture Museum (DAM) in Frankfurt, where it was already on view in autumn, curated by Oliver Elser (DAM) and Sebastian Hackenschmidt (Mak) with Anna-Maria Mayerhofer.
