The Faculty of Medicine of the Andrés Bello University, Viña del Mar Campus, held an international conference where sustainable hospital models were analyzed, promoting greater efficiency and quality of these establishments.
The Electronics engineer, Manuel Gutiérrez Novelo, speaker of the day, has been widely highlighted in the world of world conferences in different panels and forums such as the MIT Tech Conference in Boston on the future of artificial intelligence, Forbes, Microsoft, Lenovo, CDI, MPEG, ITA, Talent Land, Singularity University, SmartBC, among others.
He has also worked collaboratively with NASA AMES Research Center, NASA Langley Space Center, the Pentagon, IOWA University, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin.
Particularly at this event, the engineer spoke regarding AILEENN -Artificial Intelligence Logical Electronic Emulation Neural Network- an AI platform that makes use of neural networks to learn any type of task, from data.
“In 2012 I patented this artificial intelligence device and, as humans, we have the images, the sensors, the audio, the memory, so what I did with AILEENN was to emulate all that and I gave it everything necessary to put it to control robots because it can see, understand, listen and process information. All this is imitating the process carried out by neurons, dendrites and synapses, with sensors and neurotransmitters, but unlike the human being, it uses hardware”, explained Gutiérrez.
Hospitals of the Future
Manuel Gutiérrez presented a model of hospital sustainability where he assures that “when we talk regarding something like this we can think regarding cutting diagnostic times and reducing costs so that this tool is delivered to the specialist and has the possibility of delivering solutions faster and it becomes very efficient. When we talk regarding reducing costs, it is for no other reason than to democratize the use of Artificial Intelligence for the use of human beings and that any country has access to this”.
In addition, the professional mentioned that this model is starting with “its first stone” in 16 cities in Mexico and is spreading to different Latin American countries such as Uruguay, Brazil and Chile. “We believe that it is necessary to reinvent the hospital and especially in public health, where it has deteriorated greatly, for example, when a person needs an appointment with a specialist it can take months to get an hour. We want to subsidize the cost of these consultations with state-of-the-art technology and relieve congestion in medical complexes”, indicated the engineer.
Dr. Camilo García, director of the UNAB Medicine degree, Viña del Mar Campus, stated that the use of Artificial Intelligence contributes to the hospital sustainability model. “Caring for the planet is everyone’s task and the University, through our Medicine degree, is presenting the topic under discussion to the relevant actors in the country, to jointly design a strategy that provides the appropriate guidelines for the implementation of models sustainable,” said the doctor.
