Apple’s press conference is approaching, and whenever a new iPhone is released, there will be a lot of speculation, and analysts will predict its production. However, some analysts recently issued an analysis report on iPhone mass production issues. Analyst Jeff Pu shared a report in which he expects Apple to produce 77 million iPhone 15 units by the end of 2023. Previously, the figure was expected to be 83 million. The 11 million reduction in iPhone 15 production was caused by two main factors, namely supply constraints and concerns regarding declining demand for the iPhone 15.
The first factor is that Apple is believed to be facing supply issues, especially with the iPhone 15 Pro Max model. Because Sony, which provides high-end iPhone supply camera sensors, is also facing certain restrictions, there may be opportunities to delay the release of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It is reported that Sony will not be able to deliver the camera sensor for the iPhone 15 Pro Max in time.
Another foreign media reported earlier that stock analysts expect Apple to delay the shipment of the iPhone 15 Pro Max until October. Other models are expected to be delivered to customers starting September 22. The main reason for the delay is that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the first and only model to use a telescopic lens with optical zoom. According to reports, Sony was unable to provide the sensor required for the camera system in time for the simultaneous release of other models.
Jeff Pu said that the second reason why Apple cut the production of the iPhone 15 series by 11 million units was “demand concerns.” Apple is expected to increase the prices of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus over last year’s non-Pro iPhones as it begins including dynamic islands in standard iPhones this year. Apple cut production because higher prices might lead to lower demand. “A cut in production plans ahead of launch is not a positive sign, and a potential price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro Max might also dampen final demand,” said Jeff Pu.
Japan’s Mizuho Bank also reported that Apple has cut iPhone 15 production from 83 million to 77 million. Supply issues were cited as the main reason for the decline in banking companies. Moreover, Mizuho also predicts that Apple will produce a total of 217 million iPhones in 2023. Previously, the figure was expected to be 227 million units.
In addition to the camera sensor, Jeff Pu also pointed out in the report that the new titanium frame used in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max and the new display screen with thinner borders this year have also raised supply concerns. Media reports have suggested that Apple will no longer offer gold, but will replace it with a new titanium-framed “Titan Gray” color for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The dark purple of the special edition will be replaced by a new dark blue. More details regarding Apple’s new iPhone will be announced at a press conference in the near future.
