The World Championship Team Event is over. In an already critically eyed format, Switzerland is eliminated early. blue ski expert Sonja Nef assesses and thinks that the FIS should get over the books.
“We could count on a medal,” Sonja Nef told blue Sport after the team event at the World Ski Championships. But nothing came of this medal. Although Switzerland fulfilled its duty in the round of 16 against Latvia, it was over in the quarter-finals. The Swiss quartet is eliminated against Canada.

“I expected a little more from Wendy. She didn’t seem as lively as in other years, »says Nef. But in the end, the other nations simply drove harder.
Stronger – in a discipline that lacks the crème de la crème of skiing, the majority of top athletes do not compete. Nef finds it a pity that World Championship medals would be awarded without the top athletes starting. “Team events without top athletes don’t make sense,” adds the blue ski expert.
The format of the team events has great potential and you can go into town in the evening because the slopes don’t take up much space. “You could have a ski party,” says Nef. But the FIS must use the books and actively approach the athletes and ask them what could be changed in the future to make the format attractive for top athletes as well.
