Analía Leiva left her position in Occupational Medicine

June 1, 2022 – 01:10

After numerous requests for removal by the teaching unions towards the Undersecretary of Occupational Medicine and former Director of Teaching Medical Recognition, Analía Leiva de Ominetti, finally left her position. Her replacement is María Luisa Miranda, who was in charge of the Provincial Directorate of Occupational Medicine, Safety and Hygiene.

The assumption took place at the end of last week, but yesterday followingnoon a meeting was organized with the union representatives to make the presentation of Miranda and discuss various issues. In addition to Miranda, René Gallo also took over as the new Provincial Director of Teaching Medical Recognition.

Teachers’ unions had repeatedly asked for Analía Leiva’s removal, since her members made numerous accusations and complaints of mistreatment by the doctor, in addition to denying them licenses and forcing them to return to work unfit. The situation reached its maximum tension at the end of last year when an audio of Leiva was released in which she insulted and ordered employees to deny teachers licenses. There were even marches in front of Medical Recognition, asking for her removal.

After hearing the news of the change, Sergio Guillamondegui of SIDCA indicated that they hope that the decentralization of Medical Examination to the interior will be carried out, that a protocol of requirements be given to access licenses, and that the virtual health book be implemented, among other requests. In yesterday’s meeting, Miranda told him that they will move forward with decentralization, as well as with the other requests to improve the area. On the other hand, it was also promised to expedite the payment of teacher debts.
