Anaheim Ducks forward Alex Killorn sidelined with broken finger; Ducks make roster cuts

Anaheim Ducks forward Alex Killorn will be sidelined for four to six weeks with a broken finger, the team announced Saturday.

Killorn was injured Wednesday in a preseason game once morest the San Jose Sharks.

The 34-year-old begins his first season in Anaheim following signing a four-year, $25 million contract as a free agent.

He had 27 goals and 37 assists for 64 points in 82 games last season, his 11th with the Tampa Bay Lightning. This is his career best total in terms of goals, assists and points.

In his 11-year NHL career, he has a record of 198 goals and 268 assists.

Gaucher and Perreault cut off

Later in the day, the Anaheim Ducks cut six players, including Quebecers Nathan Gaucher and Jacob Perreault. Both men will report to the San Diego Gulls camp in the American League.

Aged 19, Gaucher will try to secure his place in the Gulls lineup and play the first professional season of his career. A first-round pick of the Ducks in 2022, Gaucher had 46 points in 44 games last season with the Quebec Remparts. He then contributed to winning the Gilles-Courteau Trophy and the Memorial Cup with the Remparts.

In the case of Perreault, he will be in his fourth professional season. A first-round pick of the Ducks in 2020, Perreault began his journey with the Gulls in 2020-2021.

Last season, he collected eight goals and 11 assists for a total of 19 points in 48 games. Perreault played his only NHL game during the 2021-2022 season.

Rodrigue among cuts in Edmonton

The Edmonton Oilers have placed forwards Drake Caggiula and Greg McKegg on waivers with the intention of selling them to their American League affiliate.

They also released defender Alex Peters from his professional trial. The 27-year-old Ontario native will report to the Bakersfield Condors.

Quebec goalkeeper Olivier Rodrigue, forward Carter Savoie and defender Noel Hoefenmayer were also sent to the Condors.

Caggiula, 29, has 46 goals and 45 assists in 282 games with the Oilers, Blackhawks, Coyotes, Sabers and Penguins.

McKegg, 31, has accumulated 21 goals and 18 assists in 233 games with the Maple Leafs, Panthers, Lightning, Hurricanes, Bruins and Rangers.
