An “unusual aquatic animal” discovered in the Seine

Last May, an orca found herself far from her usual waters… she was swimming in the Seine, between Rouen and Le Havre. The stray animal was found dead at the mouth at the end of the month. Two months later, a new species, equally uncommon for this river, was observed.

The prefecture of Eure indeed indicates that “a unusual medium-sized aquatic animal” was detected on Tuesday August 2. If its species has not yet been officially communicated, the identification by the French Office for Biodiversity is in progress, several witnesses report having observed a dolphin, according to the daily Paris-Normandie.

The beast appeared at a Léry-Poses leisure center (Normandy). The area has been placed under surveillance. “This animal is currently evolving in a shallow area. However, it is not possible to contact him, at the risk of accentuating his confusion. Residents are asked not to try to approach the animal in order to optimize its chances of survival. further specifies the prefecture.
