In turn, weather and meteorology expert Dr. Khaled Al-Zaqaq explained to Al Arabiya.net that the world is now living in an era in which climate changes have become a universal and indisputable reality, stressing that these changes are inevitably coming, as he put it.
He also added that these changes are divided into two parts, which will be in the interest of Arab countries, while they will have a negative impact on European countries and some Asian countries.
He pointed out that the Arabian Peninsula will witness these changes from its north to its south and east to its west, citing the remarkable changes that the southwestern part of Saudi Arabia, called the Empty Quarter, is experiencing.
He added that it was called the “Empty Quarter” in the past due to the emptiness of life in it due to the lack of rain.
In recent times, it has started to rain every year, and the valleys buried within the sands of the Empty Quarter have come to life once more, and this is conclusive evidence that climatic changes are inevitably coming, according to him.

Regarding the weather forecast, he pointed out that random parts of the south and west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will continue to be affected, today, Thursday, by unstable weather conditions that result in the multiplication of convective clouds, and the renewal of rain opportunities that may be accompanied by the occurrence of thunderstorms sometimes and the activity of downward winds.
While the chances of rain remain, according to the outputs of the so-called computer simulation, on separate parts of the Empty Quarter and the south of the Riyadh region administratively, with the formation of cumulus formations during noon and evening on the heights of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha and east of Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
Scattered cumulus clouds are also forming over parts of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, Tabuk and Al-Jawf, and it is not excluded that limited parts of the northern border will reach the areas of Turaif Governorate.
The rain will be of varying intensity and will be accompanied by the occurrence of thunderstorms, in addition to being preceded in many cases by a great activity in wind speed, which may cause dust and dust to form in some areas, and lead to a decrease in horizontal visibility at times, according to the “Arab Weather” website.
In addition, the temperatures remain within their normal rates in all regions of the Kingdom, with hot to very hot weather during the day, except for the highlands, and the surface humidity levels rise on the coastal areas with the possibility of fog and light fog forming in the early morning hours of Thursday on parts of the eastern coasts, including Dammam and Jubail, in addition to the southwestern highlands of the Kingdom, and active northern winds are expected with daylight hours in parts of the north of the Kingdom and west of the Riyadh region administratively, raising some dust and dust.
It is noteworthy that the Empty Quarter witnessed during the past hours heavy rain and unspeakable torrential rain, in an unfamiliar scene in that region, and social media pioneers documented it with dozens of videos.
