A visit to the Venet Foundation is a unique experience, in the heart of Provençal nature and as close as possible to the contemporary art that animates Bernar Venet, visual artist author of famous lines, arcs and monumental angles. The latter acquired this exceptional place in 1989 and has continued to extend it ever since. Located in the picturesque village of Le Muy, in the hinterland a few kilometers from Fréjus, this seven-hectare property is intended as a “total work of art”.

A lifelong project for Bernar Venet, the foundation presents his works through various outdoor spaces, as well as an exceptional collection of contemporary art. It is also a place of life and work for the artist, eager to produce and collect art. At Le Muy, we immerse ourselves in the work and the universe of Bernar Venet, born in the country and now a local emblem – we are almost already at his place when we see, from the motorway which leads to the foundation, his three crosses of steel installed at the top of the Rock of Roquebrune-sur-Argens.

The Venet Foundation is enriched with multiple exhibition spaces, where the visitor lets himself be guided, in an extraordinary natural setting, surrounded by trees and the river. We begin the visit with the sculpture park, which presents pieces by Bernar Venet as well as some thirty monumental works by artists from the conceptual and minimal art collection of Diane and Bernar Venet, from Anish Kapoor to Tony Cragg. We then admire the Stella chapel created in situ by Frank Stella, as well as two works by James Turrell. Finally, two indoor exhibition spaces complete the tour: the Factory, where we find the works of Bernar Venet, as well as the Gallery, which presents a summer exhibition every year.

This summer, two novelties await happy visitors to the Venet Foundation: two new installations by Bernar Venet, even more impressive than his previous works; a piece of 14 Arcs 16 meters long placed horizontally in the Factory, as well as a large vertical work 6 Arcs: Lower Perception / Upper Perception in the park. The summer season also presents the exhibition Robert Barry : a situationmural retrospective of the American artist Robert Barry (figurehead of minimal art and pioneer of conceptual art), designed by Mathieu Copeland in collaboration with the artist.
