An unexpected find in the Vrublevskii library Culture

This work by Petros Paludietis was printed in 1497 in Strasbourg, the most productive writer of the 15th century. in the printing house of the late Strasbourg printer Martin Flach (c. 1450-1500).

According to the Vrublevski library, the 15th century Petras Paludietis was a popular author of sermons published many times. His various collections in the 15th century. were printed 31 times, of which even 17 issues were printed in Martin Flach’s printing house.

Among the most popular collections of the Dominican monk was the “Sermones thesauri novi de tempore” discovered in the Vrublevski library, which was printed as many as 22 times, 17 of which in Strasbourg.

This is already the second collection of sermons of the same name by Petros Paludietis, kept by the Vrublevskis. The first was also printed in Strasbourg in 1484. The publisher of the latter book is not known, it is named as “Vitas Patrum”.

The discovered publication entered the Vrublevskii library together with other books of the Vilnius Society of Friends of Science during the Second World War, but until now it has not been identified as an incunabula.
