An Old Forgotten PS1 Franchise Returns With A Remake

Fallen! (Tomba! in English) is a franchise made up of two platform games released in 1997 and 1999 on the PS1. And the publisher Limited Run Games intends to resuscitate the franchise with a remake of the first opus.

Retro-gaming and the interest in old games is a phenomenon that is not regarding to stop. And in this wave, Limited Run Games has decided to bring back a forgotten classic from Sony’s very first console with modernized graphics.

Fallen! is a 1997 2D Metroidvania-style platformer that takes place on an archipelago in the middle of the ocean, attacked by a group of seven naughty pigs. While a sequel was released in 1999, no new games have been released since then, although the series has managed to gather a community of fans.

Let them rejoice, because Tombi! will be remade. It is even the creator of the original game who returns to the controls, in a modernized version using the game engine of the house, the Carbon Engine.

We still know little regarding this new version, which we can however imagine very faithful to the original. Limited Run Games is indeed a distributor specializing, among other things, in retrogaming, and which is not at its first attempt to resuscitate forgotten classics.
