An investigator from the city of Brussels was assaulted on December 28, while he was doing his job. He was issuing a ticket for a parking violation when the motorist stabbed him.
A knife attack occurred on Tuesday, December 28 at rue de Spa and at the intersection with rue du Marteau, between the Ambiorix and European districts. This was directed to an employee of the city of Brussels. “This is a parking control officer in the city of Brussels”, specifies the spokesperson for the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police zone.
At around 5 p.m. that day, the investigating officer was doing his job when he was stabbed by a motorist unhappy at having received a fine. “It is following the verbalization of the vehicle”, confirms our interlocutor.
The employee, very shocked, is now unable to work. But we do not know more regarding his state of health.
While city officials may be assaulted, it remains relatively rare to encounter such violence. The mayor of Brussels, Philippe Close, says he is aware and ensures that he will contact the employee next week to hear from him.
A file has been opened for “assault and battery once morest public service personnel.” The investigation is ongoing.
