Leaker Digital Chat Station posted a supposedly official image of the Vivo X Flip on Weibo. This foldable smartphone would opt for a generous external screen, in landscape format.
News in brief
- An alleged official image of the Vivo X Fold betrays its large external display;
- The landscape format of this one seems to be confirmed.
Less than a year ago, the Chinese manufacturer Vivo unveiled its very first foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold – which we have since taken over. This competitor to the Galaxy Z Fold and Oppo Find N marries a so-called book format: it can unfold to turn into a small tablet.
Vivo is also eyeing the clamshell format, known as “Flip” in the industry. That’s why he focused on a certain Vivo X Flip, which we first heard regarding in December 2022.a first official image of the phone is said to have leaked.
A very generous external screen
Ce leak is to the credit of Digital Chat Station – via Weibo –, which was already at the origin of a first sketch of the phone five months ago. In the idea, the interested party had seen correctly on the layout of the external screen: it would be in landscape modeand not in portrait format as is the case on the Oppo Find N2 Flip.
The alleged official image, however, highlights an even larger outer screen – or so it seems – than the one seen in the sketch: it would thus occupy more than half of the space and would overhang a round photo module. The latter should accommodate between three and four photo sensors.
To a Qualcomm chip
Its layout in landscape mode is interesting in more ways than one, since it will allow you to consult the information on the screen without having to rotate the phone. On the other hand, how far will we have to extend our fingers to access this external slab? Won’t it be placed too far away? Only a test can answer these questions.
As a reminder, the Vivo X Flip should embark at its heart a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip from Qualcomm, which has proven itself, accompanied by an internal screen of 6.8 inches. At the moment, no release date is known, although the year 2023 seems to be a legitimate shooting window for Vivo.
