An office has detained 28 domestic workers for 4 months in one of the regions of the Kingdom • Al-Marsad Newspaper

Al-Marsad newspaper: Al-Ekhbariya channel presented a report on a public office that detains female workers, and is hiding under the guise of trafficking in persons.

The video showed that 3 iron doors designed to detain 28 domestic workers without sufficient water or food were made in one of the Kingdom’s regions.

According to the report, women are not allowed to leave, their passports are withheld, their mobile phones are confiscated, there is no water or food and no place to sleep other than the corridors, as well as the absence of health care.

For his part, Saad Al Hammad, a spokesman for the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, said: “Today the ministry stood on this office, following it was entered by the Civil Defense Forces, we found more than 28 detained domestic workers.”

He added: “This office provides unlicensed services, and there is a suspicion of trafficking in persons, and this information is being verified.”

He pointed out that the iron doors are designed to detain maids, and there have been women detained for regarding 4 months.
