A Congolese NGO on Friday March 11, 2022 asked the authorities to release a 26-year-old student. She has been detained in the central prison of Brazzaville for more than a year. She was arrested in February 2021 for alleged acts of undermining the internal security of the State.
Executive Director of the Circle of Actions for Development (CAD), Trésor Nzila personally visited on Thursday the student Chancelia Moulounda, imprisoned in the Brazzaville remand center for 399 days. ” The situation is very difficult for the young student. Before her arrest, Chancelia Moulounda was a Master’s student in French Language and Literature (LLF) at the public University of Brazzaville. The charges once morest him have never been elucidated. Hence the release of the CAD which calls for its release.
« We do not understand the stubbornness of the Brazzaville authorities to keep the young student in prison at all costs. We demand his release pure and simple because (in the Congo) detention remains an exceptional measure. In the name of the presumption of innocence, the principle is free appearance until there is a judgment of conviction “, storms the head of the CAD.
Trésor Nzila insists: “ Deprivation of liberty is a serious violation of human rights. We believe that this injustice must end and must be repaired. »
At the beginning of the case, the family of the young student had hired a lawyer for her defense, but the latter no longer appears.
