Al-Marsad newspaper: One of the abused young women in Iraq, “Aya Al-Moussawi”, recounted the details of her exposure to harassment, violence, and an attempt to slay her in the street by her father.
The battered young woman explained, during her appearance on the “Manchit Red” program: “She used to live with her uncles following her parents separated, but following she grew up, her uncles refused to stay with them, so she had to go to live with her father.
She said that her father started harassing her, but when she refused, he started harassing her, beating her and tying her up. She pointed out: “For two years, I have been filing complaints once morest my father and going to the police stations and meeting the judge, but no one has done anything regarding what is happening to me, and the judge kept telling me that this is my father and linking the case to the clans.”
She indicated that she decided to escape from her harassing father, when she was 17 years old, to Baghdad, but she was surprised that she fell into another trap, saying: “They deceived me … they issued me a false nationality and sold me in Erbil, and when I discovered that they wanted to exploit me in bad ways, I ran away from them once more, so the police took me in Erbil, (the Fourth Division), and referred me to Baghdad, (the Minister’s office), and from there they transferred me to the inheritor’s house in the shrine in Karbala. I stayed there for regarding 9 months, but I was suffering from many psychological disorders because of all What I went through with my father and the bad situations that befell him following I ran away from him.”
The girl pointed out that two weeks ago, her father and brother tortured her when she filed a complaint once morest them, and when the judge asked her to bring a medical report, and while she was going to deliver the report to the police station, she found her father and brother in the street, so they attacked her with a knife and they hurt her and tried to slay her in the neck.
And regarding her feelings towards her father, the girl said, I do not like him because he destroyed my life and caused me mental illness, and destroyed my brother’s life and disfigured my body. What I really hope for is that they arrest my father and punish him, I need them to beat him in front of my eyes so that he feels the pain I was feeling.
