What if the iPhone Pro Max disappeared in favor of a new iPhone? Indeed, the iPhone 15 Ultra would take the place of the most high-end model.
Apple has a habit of naming its iPhone models according to their size and features. Thus, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the top model of the 15 range, with a 6.7-inch screen and advanced features.
A new rumor suggests that Apple may change the name of the iPhone 15 Pro Max to “iPhone 15 Ultra”. This rumor was originally reported by Mark Gurman in September 2022, but was later retracted.
AppleInsider’s Andrew O’Hara now claims the “iPhone 15 Ultra” name is back. O’Hara doesn’t have much experience with Apple rumors, but he did share accurate renders of the second-generation AirPods Pro before they launched last year.
A logical sequence?
There are several reasons to believe that the iPhone 15 Ultra might be a reality. First, Apple tends to replace its product names over time. For example, the iPhone X was replaced by the iPhone 11, which was later replaced by the iPhone 12.
Second, the iPhone 15 Ultra might justify the name “Ultra” with its advanced features. The device is expected to have a larger screen than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, longer battery life, and a periscope telephoto lens with 6x optical zoom.
Of course, it’s important to note that these are just rumors at this time. Apple has yet to confirm or deny the name of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
