An iPad soon to be used for space travel – La Nouvelle Tribune

The US space agency plans to take off an iPad to test a feature. This is at least the announcement that was made by NASA through a press release. This is an Apple touchscreen tablet that will travel in space aboard the Orion module. This experience is part of the very first flight of the SLS, NASA’s new rocket. The usefulness of the Apple brand device is that it should serve as the basis for the mission Callisto.

The goal is to show that Amazon’s voice assistant « Alexa » can operate in space. This option will allow the American space agency to make life easier for astronauts. According to the American Space Agency, the use of the iPad for this experiment will have the merit of using a voice assistant to access various information such as the trajectory, temperature, telemetry or simply the time.

A trip to the Moon in 2025

Also according to NASA, the hope is to be able to send a man and a woman to the Moon in 2025. Given the distance, it will not be possible for Alexa to communicate with Amazon’s servers on Earth. It should be noted that this is the first time that the American space agency will carry out this significant number of tests to ensure the reliability of its SLS rocket within the framework of its mission.
