an IPA from Manitoba microbreweries in support of Ukraine

Eight Manitoba microbreweries have teamed up to help victims of the war in Ukraine with red beer Brew For Ukraine.

Friday, at the Torque brewery plant in Winnipeg, it was a day of filling 3,000 cans now containing 1,500 liters of beer.

Manitoba brewers have answered the call of an international movement.

Ukrainian brewery Pravda has converted its factory to produce Molotov cocktails. She therefore requested the help of international brewers so that they could produce their recipes, which could be accessed on the Internet.

For the co-owner of the Nonsuch microbrewery, Matthew Sabourin, it is important to show solidarity with Ukraine.

We just had to accept, provide funds and ingredients. It’s important, it’s a very important cause», Relate-t-il.

Les microbrasseries Torque, Nonsuch, One Great City, Bam Hammer, Devil May Care, Stone Angel, Trans Canada Brewing Company and Lake of the Wood collaborated on the project.

They concocted a red IPA, says the employee at the microbrewery Torque, Kyle Maskew.

All proceeds will be donated to organizations that help victims of the war in Ukraine.

The beer will be on sale Monday at the Toque microbrewery.

If supplies permit, this beer may be available at liquor stores across the province.
