Arrested on June 17, the day of the banned opposition demonstration, François Mancabou, a former soldier, born in 1971, died on Wednesday evening at the Principal Hospital in Dakar where he had been admitted to intensive care following being held in police custody. premises of the Urban Security of Dakar.

The public prosecutor who recalled that Mr. Mancabou had been arrested by the Urban Security “for acts of terrorism and attack on state security”, presented the condolences of the family court to the family of the deceased.

According to him, François Mancabou “was arrested on June 17 at 7 a.m. at his home following the development of the investigation and found carrying a 22-caliber Walter type firearm with 9 ammunition”.

He added that ”according to the information available at this stage of the proceedings, his role would consist, within the framework of what is commonly called the Special Force, of developing strategies of attack and harassment once morest the security forces during demonstrations that were planned at the time.
