An invasion of small black bugs put CABA on alert: what are they and how to fight them?

A plague of insects accompanied the extreme temperatures of CABA. They looked like little bird mites or pigeon lice, but they are actually a thrips infestationtiny insects that in recent days have settled on everyone who goes outdoors.

The scientific name of these small animals is Caliothrips phaseoli and on social networks several users showed the discomfort caused by the presence of these insects, since due to the heat wave they began to flutter and climb on humans.

It does not stop, the heat broke another record in CABA

Thousands of people noticed the presence of tiny black dots on their skin and clothing and a back itchfor which they complained regarding the presence of these “lice”.

According to the description made by the National Pest Surveillance and Monitoring System (Sinavimo), the insect has a reticulated back of the head and thorax, the forewings with two light areas that cross them like bands, and the legs are dark. with the end of the tibia clear. The larval forms are light yellow in color.

The females insert isolated eggs in leaves or other parts of the plant, where the nymphs feed. The egg-adult cycle is completed in approximately two weeks, and there are numerous generations per year.

Due to its size and location in protected parts of plants it is difficult to detect themthe appearance of black dots (excrement) on the leaves is an indication of the presence of thrips.

This tiny animal is characterized by being a big headache for those people who grow cannabis in their homes, for the damage they cause to the plants.

Even in the city and the suburbs, the clothes that had just been washed and hung on the rope became a kind of chromatic attractor and were impregnated with hundreds of thrips.

Among the solutions to combat this plague are pulverized potassium soap and chromatic traps (pieces of brightly colored plastic painted with oil).
