“I was offered to become a “tester” of the program”, begins Chantal, retired, victim of breast cancer. “ I immediately said yes, even though I had never thought of a spa treatment since I don’t suffer from joint pain. I saw it as a well-being parenthesis, but it turned out that it was much more than that: you meet other women with different backgrounds, you open up, you learn, it allows you to put things into perspective”.
Because in addition to the physical care provided by the spa professionals, by a dietician, by sports teachers, by a beautician, and by nurses, the objective of this stay is also to treat the minds of women. “I was lucky to be very surrounded by my husband, my friends and my family during my treatment, and this is already not the case for all women. Despite that, I didn’t think I needed a psychologist. However, he allowed me to realize that I kept the trauma of the cancer in me. He allowed me to let go of things..
An experience that Chantal warmly recommends to anyone who might have access to it. “For 12 days, a whole team takes turns and takes care of us. It informs us, helps us to get over the course of a return to normal life. We leave with a real feeling of well-being and with a lot of tools for our daily lives. It allows us to fill the void that we feel following the treatments and to bounce back”.
A first session will officially see the light of day on November 14, before a second session is organized on March 20, 2023. At the end of the two sessions, the participants will benefit from 18 months of support provided by the nurses. A way to ensure the effectiveness of the “Breakthrough” program, and to monitor that no recurrence comes to mind. Because that’s also what counts: caring for women, and for good.
