Al-Marsad newspaper: The World Health Organization called for caution that the possibility of controlling the “Covid-19” pandemic this year is in danger.
This comes at a time when many countries are gradually getting rid of the precautionary measures for the epidemic that has dominated the world for more than two years.
The Director-General of the Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said: “The opportunity to control the epidemic by the end of this year still exists, but there is an increasing danger that the world is regarding to miss this opportunity,” according to the newspaper, “Asharq Al-Awsat.”
While Ghebreyesus cautioned that the large increase in the number of mild infections in countries that have reached high levels of vaccine coverage is pushing the popular saying that the pandemic is over, while there are still many regions in the world that record very low levels of vaccine coverage and testing, “which provides the conditions for ideal for more viral mutations to emerge.
