In this context, the British company “Predator Oil and Gas” announced an important discovery of helium gas in the MOU-5 well in the Ksar El-Kebir region in the eastern part of the Kingdom, which is an important development in the energy sector in the region.

Helium is a rare gas that is of great importance in many industries, including its key role in heat transfer in some nuclear reactors, which makes it a highly valuable resource.

The discovery of helium in Morocco represents an important step, as this gas is of high economic value due to its multiple uses in various fields such as medicine, space and technology, and it is an essential element in industrial processes that require an environment free of chemical reactions.

Concurrent with this announcement, Predator confirmed that the geological analysis of the MOU-5 well structure, carried out by Scorpion Geoscience, has been completed and that available resource estimates will be published later this month. This information will provide a clearer picture of the actual potential of the project and its potential impact on the local economy and the energy industry in Morocco.

The aim of drilling the MOU-5 well is not limited to evaluating helium reserves only, but also includes studying the possibility of establishing a gas extraction project, along with another project to produce electricity using the gas discovered near the “Morocco-Europe” gas pipeline, projects that may contribute to strengthening Morocco’s energy independence and reducing its dependence on imports.

Regarding the nature of the well, the MOU-5 well is considered conventional and does not require the same advanced technology used in gas exploration projects in the western region, which facilitates drilling and extraction operations and reduces the costs associated with complex technology.

In a related context, the company announced the extension of the testing program in the MOU-3 well, based on the initial analysis of the data, which indicates promising prospects in that area as well.

It is noteworthy that Zenith Energy has been assigned to provide technical support for exploration operations in Morocco, with the possibility of expanding the scope of this cooperation to include other regions in the country, which enhances the opportunities for developing the energy sector in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.
