An illegal LVC driver rallies his “buddies” to beat up a controller at the Gare du Midi

A Brussels Mobility controller was attacked on Tuesday morning at the Gare du Midi while he was checking an offending vehicle, Brussels-Mobility spokesperson Camille Thiry told Belga. He was kicked in the back and taken to hospital.

The driver had an LVC (Car Rental with Driver) license for the transport of people, which was issued to him in a region other than that of Brussels-Capital. He risked the seizure of his vehicle.

During the check of the papers, he stirred up some of his acquaintances who were nearby. A controller received a violent kick in the back. “He was taken to the hospital, because he had a medical history”said Camille Thiry. “This kick in the back was therefore particularly unwelcome”.

The driver was able to leave with his vehicle and the people who took part in the attack dispersed, but the local police intervened shortly following at the scene. The two Brussels-Mobility controllers present lodged a complaint.

“We hope that the investigation and the surveillance images will make it possible to follow up on this attack”continued Camille Thiry. “At Brussels-Mobility, we take this very seriously. We are shocked to see this kind of violent action once morest people who are just doing their job”.

The Minister-President of the Brussels government Rudi Vervoort (PS) expressed his support for him on Twitter and judged “unacceptable” the aggression to which he was subjected in the course of his duties.
