An “extreme” Apple Watch expected at the end of the year

Rumors about this new Apple watch are more insistent than ever.

Are we about to see the biggest update to the Apple Watch since its launch in April 2015? It is in any case what everything leads to believe, so the rumors on this subject do not cease to evoke not two, but three new models for the start of the school year. The Apple Watch Series 8, a new SE watch and a model dedicated to extreme sports.

A new rumor, given by Bloomberg this Wednesday and launched by someone inside the company, provides more information about this new model. It would obviously be more robust than the other models and would thus make it possible to practice sports such as mountaineering, climbing or diving without fear of damaging our smartwatch.

A stronger metal case

Currently the cases of Apple Watch are made of aluminum and scratch relatively easily at the slightest sudden blow. Apple would grant this new model a metal case much stronger than aluminum, which would act as protection for the screen and the interior of the Watch. The screen would finally resist scratches and knocks much better.

On the battery side, we would switch to greater autonomy, in order to keep our watch active longer during training sessions.

Finally, the other great novelty, beyond its improved resistance, lies in its screen, which would now be the largest in the entire connected watch market. 2 inches diagonally (against 1.9 on the future Series 8) and a usable area that would be 7% larger than on the Series 7. With a larger screen, and as Bloomberg points out, Apple “could take advantage of it to show more data during sports than on other models”.

If its improved solidity has everything to please, it is however on the price side that Apple risks making people unhappy. Where the most expensive model, the stainless steel Apple Watch Series 7, is sold for €729, it is rumored that the “extreme” model will be even more expensive…
