An Englishman wanted for “serious crimes” arrested at the port of Tangier-Med (DGSN)

The defendant, who had hidden in a trailer hitched to an international road transit truck coming from a Spanish port, presented suspicious identity documents while pretending to be a 33-year-old Maltese national, explains a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).

The authentication and identification operation carried out through international security co-operation channels revealed that the suspect was in fact a 42-year-old English national wanted by the British courts for serious crimes in connection with the intentional homicide and the illegal possession and use of firearms, continues the same source.

The defendant was placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial inquiry ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s office with a view to determining the criminal acts of which he is accused on national territory, while coordination will be initiated with the competent authorities in the Kingdom. Kingdom regarding the request for its transfer in accordance with the relevant conventions and legal texts, it is concluded.
