The source added in an interview with a TASS correspondent: “A member of the Ukrainian military intelligence, whose identity has not yet been determined, assigned Butinga the task of carrying out an explosion on May 25-26, 2023 on the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power station to cause the greatest amount of damage, including causing the death of agency employees.” The International Atomic Energy Agency is present at the station in order to discredit Russia before the international community and thus increase financial and military support for Ukraine by some countries.”

According to the source, charges were brought against Butinga under Article “Participation in a terrorist group,” Article “Attempt to commit a terrorist act,” and Article “Illicit trafficking in explosives and explosive devices” of the Russian Criminal Code.

According to the investigation, Butinga joined a terrorist group formed by the Ukrainian military intelligence in March 2023. On instructions from this intelligence, he studied cars that could enter the territory of the station for later use in the terrorist bombing. After that, he received information from Ukrainian supervisors about where an explosive device weighing up to 1 kg was stored and transported it to his apartment in Energodar.

In May 2023, Botenga installed an explosive device under a Hyundai car to carry out the explosion. But Russian security forces thwarted the mission and he was arrested in December 2023.
